This antique rug is made by the Turkman nomad 70 years ago. It’s made of handspun wool which is dyed with natural dyes. Despite its age, this beautiful piece is in very good shape. Just Like any other Persian authentic rugs, this one gets shinier and more valuable as it gets old.
Turkmans are ancient nomads of the northeast of Iran.

Gabbeh has simple patterns and longer piles than normal Persian rugs. Gabbeh is mostly weaved by Qashqai women. They are made by handspun wool and the yarns are dyed using organic plant dyes. Weavers never use pre-designed patterns. They weave the pattern by heart and improvise as the work goes along. Most of their carpets are inspired by nature and their life stories. Perhaps it’s because of such creativity that nomadic carpets are considered a perfect example of a work of art.
